Well-being
Time spent in school prepares students for life in the wider world and helps them become rounded individuals. We want them to do their very best in all areas of their lives, becoming active citizens who will play a positive role in a shared future. We encourage them to be ambitious for their future learning, to think and feel positive for themselves and able to engage with others in a positive way.
We work to maintain and improve our students' physical and emotional wellbeing through a range of positive activities and to support those students with special educational needs through our Faculty of Inclusion.
Physical Wellbeing
Including:
- a wide range of sporting activities during curriculum time and afterschool and at lunchtime clubs through the PE and Extended Schools departments for our students. We even run keep fit classes and massage sessions for staff
- a whole school themed Health Week that emphasises the benefits both physically and mentally of staying fit and healthy and again involves both students and staff to promote the idea of health and fitness being important for everyone
- encourage healthy eating with a range of healthy options in the canteen and we also hold Healthy Schools status
- promote positive role models across the school
Emotional Wellbeing
Including:
- Counselling
- Anti-bullying
- Health Hut is the base for external counsellors and specialists where students can self refer or be referred
- Tutors, Year Curriculum Coordinators play an extremely important part in ensuring that our students are able to achieve, stay healthy, keep safe and make a positive contribution to the community. Building long term relationships with their students as they progress through the school they are able to support and guide, encourage and help, directing them to the wide range of services available, whether it be internal or external specialist support.
