Parents' Forum
Our Parents’ Forum, run by parents and carers works with the school to put on events to help families support their children, and provides an online discussion board to create a support network. We do encourage all our parents and carers to get involved at some level whether by attending meetings, taking an active role in the Parents’ Forum, or standing for election as a Parent Governor.
What is the Parents' Forum for?
The Parents' Forum organises Social Evenings, Quiz Nights, Headteacher's Question Time, discussions on how English, Science, etc are taught at SNS, as well as sessions with staff examining issues of concern to parents such as homework, sports, and bullying. The Parents' Forum raises funds through a lottery, and decides how these funds are allocatedIn the past year funds have been donated to after-school and summer clubs, and have helped students from low-income families go on school trips.
Our school representative is Mike Harpham, Deputy Head, who acts as the conduit between school, parents and carers. You can find more information produced by the school for parents and carers here.
Parents find the email network and discussion board a valuable tool to share information. Join the group
What sort of commitment do you have to make?
None. You can turn up for as many or as few meetings as you like, or you can come once and never come again. You can get involved in events and fundraising if you like, or you can just hear what other people have to say and express your own views.
Why take part?
To make a better school. The more parents who get involved, the more representative the Parents' Forum can be of the whole school community. Everyone is welcome.
David Vail, Chair of the Parents Forum

Supporters of the school are asked to make a contribution from as little as £1 a month. Of the money generated, two thirds of the money goes to school projects and the remainder goes in prizes.
