Community
Stoke Newington has one of the most diverse communities in the UK. Our school community reflects that diversity and we work hard to raise levels of achievement, aspiration and success for everyone.
Our Parents' Forum, run by parents and carers works with the school to put on events to help families support their children, and provides an online discussion board to create a support network. We do encourage all our parents and carers to get involved at some level whether by attending meetings, taking an active role in the Parents' Forum or standing for election as a Parent Governor.
As a school we promote a cohesive society through a wide range of events and activities for those working, living and studying in N16. These include:
- An annual festival: performance and procession involving five primary schools
- Extended Schools Services Program: a range of leisure, learning and family support and wellbeing services
- The Exchange project: funded by the Safer London Foundation which aims to reduce isolation felt by local people and create a safer environment for everyone
We are also working with the St Mary’s Development Committee in its bid to develop the old church on Stoke Newington Church Street as a non faith-aligned community arts centre. As well as working behind the scenes on this long term project our music department is involved in a number of fund-raising events.
These activities are supported through the school’s Specialism and Extended Schools departments. If you would like to find out more about our activities you can access the latest Extended Schools program for the wider community.
